- Ensure that all lighting fixtures are working properly
Lighting plays a part of the restaurant’s atmosphere which attracts the attention of passer-bys and potential customers to dine in your restaurant. It is essential that you ensure that all faulty lighting fixtures are replaced and it suits the ambience of your restaurant.
- Create a theme for your restaurant ambience
Come up with a restaurant theme or concept and create your desired restaurant ambience to it. You should have a theme for your restaurant in order to know the direction of your restaurant’s interior that you are going for.
- Construct your menu nicely
Firstly, you can decide and customize your unique menu theme and texture, unlike those typical plastic menus which most restaurants offer. For example, you can let your creativity run wild and come up with a newspaper or magazine texture menu which is unique to the public. Next, you can categorize your menus according to catchy and trendy headings which appeals to the public. You can also include a section for all time favourite dishes and named it uniquely such as “Top 10 food die-die must try!”, which means to appeal to customers to try out those popular dishes. Include the appropriate symbols that represent Chef’s Recommendation, Spicy, Vegetarian, Vegan and Allergy concerns (eg, contains nuts, dairy, gluten-free). Menu item description should also be described well and correspond to the taste.
- Eye-catching Pastries/Food Display over the counter
You should arrange your pastries or food on the display in an eye-catching and pleasant way to attract the attention of the public. For example, your display products should give passers-by the feel of buying your pastries with just a look as they pass by your restaurant. This turns the public into potential customers of yours and this will increase footfall and sales revenue for your restaurant.
- Mingle with customers
As the restaurant’s owner, you should mingle with customers and strike a conversation with them. Check with them how they find everything (eg, service), and if everything is okay. The feedback that you receive would be constructive and helps you to make better decisions in the long run.
- Be Child-Friendly
Your restaurant should contain stationeries (eg, Colour Pencils and Drawing Paper) for young children as it keeps them occupied while dining with their parents. It also distracts them from crying as they put their focus in what they are doing. This gives their parents an ease of mind as their children are kept occupied with drawing and colouring instead of crying, thus increasing their satisfaction with the service. Additionally, your restaurant should also provide baby high-chairs, children’s cutleries and a kids menu too.
